BASRA will be hosting a Fall New Referee Grade 8 Clinic.  This consists of online course work prior to the mandatory classroom session August 21 5-9pm at Sanderson Stewart, 1000 N. Transtech Way in Billings, and field session on August 22nd from 5-9pm at Amend Park. .  You cannot referee unless you attend these sessions.

The online coursework consists of multiple modules with an exam at the end of each.  To register go to set up an account.  Once you have set up your account you will register for the course.  Please select Entry Level Grade 8 Referee Course: online + two 5 hr class sessions (don’t worry they really aren’t 5 hours).  Once you begin if you take a module/exam and don’t pass, hit “Review”, it will show what you missed and you can retake the modules/exam. Plan on several hours to complete the modules and exam; you can complete it at your own pace and just pick up where you left off.  If it locks you out after multiple attempts of trying to pass an exam please email Kristin to have it reset.  Once all of the module/exams are complete you will move onto the Final Test portion.

New Grade 8 referees do not need to pay BASRA dues.

Since the season will start the first weekend in September, make sure you buy uniforms for the upcoming season.  You can order starter kits on or buy/order one short sleeved yellow jersey (economy jersey is fine), one pair of black shorts, black 3 striped referee socks, a whistle (fox 40 is the most common one), and red/yellow cards. Flags are good to have, but not mandatory.  If you plan on centering games, you should plan on supplying flags for your ARs. Black sweat pants and a black long sleeved shirt to wear under uniforms are acceptable to wear with cold weather. Scheels is probably the best local place to look for referee gear, but they have limited stock.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email
